The fishing was hot for the first event of the St Clair Double Barrel Shootout. With almost 40 boats coming out to fish and with the Canadian waters open you knew it was going to be a shootout. It was said that some of the teams made runs of 60 miles or more to bring back some of those giant bronzebacks. Out of the 31 limits that came to the scales the team of Kent Hart & Ron Goshen topped the field with a limit that weighed in at just over 20 pounds. Second place honors went to the team of Todd Steele & Kevin Hoey with 18.60 pounds and following in a close third was the team of Kyle & David Greene with 18.54 pounds. Big Bass honors went to the team of Scott Emery & Joe Pappas with a huge smallmouth that weighed in at 5.85 pounds.
Paul & Barry would like to thank all of the sponsors that helped make this kickoff a special event. Including Little Bill’s Trophies for the great job they did on the plaques and Jann’s Sport Shop for sponsoring the trophies. Also, special thanks to Humminbird for the graph that was given away at this event and all these other great sponsors for donating prizes at this event. Red Dragon, Deka Batteries, Combat Fishing, Jan’s Netcraft, Selfridge Sport & Tackle, Bass Stopper Lures, Bass Pro Shops, Eagle Claw, Wonderland Marine West, Strike King Lures and Skeeter Boats. And a great big THANKS to Hank Monteny for cooking all those great grilled Hot Dogs, they we’re delicious.
Most of all Paul & Barry would like to thank all of the anglers who came out for their first event. This is a great start for the Double Barrel Shootout and we hope you can join us at our next event on July 8. We’re expecting at least 50 boats and we look forward to seeing you there.
