Leaders Marine Northern Championship
turns into a Shootout for First Place!

view album»

Despite the cold weather for last weekends Leaders Marine Northern Championship almost 70 teams made the trip to Muskegon Michigan for this event. These teams were trying to take top honors and win two Polaris quads in the Leaders Marine Northern Championship.

It doesn’t get any closer than this for first. The team of Paul Bruxfort and Bob VanSpronsen weighed in with a limit of fish going 15.59 lbs to take over the lead. Then just a short time later the team of Eric & Tom Jennings brought another limit to the scales but just fell short by 1/100 of an ounce with a total weight of 15.58 lbs. The crowd was on edge as the scale settled and determined that Paul and Bob had just won the Leaders Marine Northern Championship. Third place and big bass honors went to the team of Dan Monette & Stan Pearson with a nice bag of bass going 15.15 pounds anchored by a 5.19 smallmouth.

Paul and Bob’s win in the Leaders Marine Northern Championship on Muskegon Lake was worth a pair of Polaris Hawkeye quads valued at over $9400. Eric and Tom Jennings took home $750 for their second place finish while the team of Dan Monette and Stan Pearson took home a total of $850 for third place and big bass.

We would like to give a special thanks to our major sponsor of this event, Leaders Marine of Gun Lake and Kalamazoo. With out Leaders Marine this event would not have been possible. If you haven’t been to Leaders Marine in Kalamazoo you really owe it to your self to go out and take a look. Not only do they have several Skeeter/Yamaha boat packages to choose from they are loaded to the gills with quads, snowmobiles, pleasure boats, and accessories of all kinds and they have one of the largest indoor showrooms you’ll ever see. So if you’re in the market for a new boat, ATV, or any other type of pleasure craft please give Leaders a call, (269) 544-2628 and see what they can do for you.

Leaders Marine top team Hayes & Hayes

Congratulations also go out to the team of Larry Hayes Sr & Larry Hayes Jr. This team was the number 1 team of the year and for their efforts not only did they get to go out first, their entry fee was also waived because of finishing in the top 10 teams of the year and they also received a brand new Aqua-Vu camera. Hayes and Hayes did bring in a limit of fish and just finished out of the money despite having motor problems for most of the day.

Also, we would like to thank the cub scouts for coming out and serving up some great tasting hot dogs. Plus we would like to thank all of our other sponsors for making this event special, Skeeter, Yamaha, Minn Kota, Humminbird, Strike King, Auto Value, Aqua-Vu, Please Release Me, Scent-Lok, Venom, Solar Bat, Poor Boys Bait, Supreme Marine, D & S Trophy’s, Mann’s, Xtools, Eagle Claw, Dixie Dancer, Bass-n-Bag, Gamma, Fish Hedz, and Stopper Lures. Plus, a special thanks to all the fishermen that came out to fish in the Leaders Marine Northern Championship.
