Lake St Clair - Double Barrel Shootout!!
The first of five Double Barrel Shootout series St. Clair tournaments took place on June 28th. The morning began at 4:30 AM with heavy winds and buckets and buckets of rain soaking the start of the check-in. A few shelters were put up to give some of the anglers shelter from the drenching rain. Many waited in their trucks to see if the tournament would be called off and rescheduled. With many of anglers wanting to start the series on this the first day of open Canadian waters on the big lake we waited out the storm.
About 5:45 AM the skies finely stopped their crying and so did the anglers. As the sun began to lighten the skies we began the check-in. About 1/2 dozen of the teams had left the ramp thinking that the day was a bust. Too bad for them.... The 38 boats that stayed got a great day of fishing on the BEST SMALLMOUTH Lake in the state.
Yes, it did rain a few heavy 30 minute showers during the day, but for the most part we had a great day that had all but two teams weighing in fish. There were 33 limits of bass brought to the scales. Congratulations to the team of Todd Koehler and David Carter for a huge winning weight of 23.39 Lbs. They had a 2 1/2 pound lead over the second place team of Brian Olsen and Mike Olsen with 20.89 Lbs. The 3rd place team of Kyle Green and his dad David Green had a weight of 20.69 Lbs. If you were wondering how we did..... only 15.24 Lbs but we did win BIG FISH with a 5.30 Smallie!
We hope you can join us for our next tournament on Lake St. Clair on July 12th. Best of luck to all our St. Clair anglers... Thank you, Paul Sacks/ Barry Narrin
Our winner of the Minn Kota Trolling motor was Danny Deverna. Great job guys!
PS: sorry it was just too wet for pictures. I will get them at the next tournament.
